Kolukkumalai is the world’s highest elevation tea plantation at 7900 feet msl. Started in the early 1900s, the estate produces tea using the orthodox method in the time-tested factory. Kolukkumalai is located at Kottayadi village, Bodinaykkanur taluk, Theni district in Tamil Nadu but it is accessible via Suryanelly, Chinnakanal, Kerala.

Plantation walk - 1 hour

Kolukkumalai Tea factory visit and Tea tasting – 1 hour

Kolukkumalai is the highest elevation organic tea factory in the world, built around the 1930s by the British. The visitors are given a briefing about the origin of tea for consumption, its history & health benefits. Weathering, Rolling, Fermentation, Drying, Fiber extraction, Grading are the six steps of tea production.

Tea Tasting

The guests are explained about tea tasting terminology and shown ways of making an ideal cup of tea. They are also allowed to taste and favor the various grades of tea produced in the factory.
