FULL DAY MOUNTAIN HIKING IN MUNNAR (6 - 7 HRS)

(A guided trekking tour covers tea plantations, grass land, mountain ridges & small shola forest for four hrs)

Starting time: 08.30 AM

Cost: 1750 per person (minimum 2 pax)

Tour Inclusions: Guide, Entry fee, Water & Packed Lunch.

Exclusions: Hotel Pick up and drop off charges, etc.

What to wear & keep: Normal hiking or walking shoes, long dress & sun protector.

FULL DAY MOUNTAIN HIKING THROUGH TEA PLANTATION

The full day trek is a guided tour towards the Lekshmi hills and Pothamedu mountains in Munnar. This hike covers approximately 14 to 18 km (6 hrs). The terrain in Lekshmi hills is lush and fertile, initially used for growing coffee, cardamom, and cinchona, now replaced by tea plantations.

The trek starts at 1420 meters above MSL, reaching a height of about 2000 meters. The route showcases tea and cardamom plantations, shola forests, and rocky mountains. There is a high chance to spot endemic birds. After a brief refreshment, packed lunch is provided. The trek continues through the mountains, passing waterfalls, wild squirrels, Gaurs, and spice plantations (coffee, cardamom). The tour concludes around 3:00 to 4:00 PM, returning to the starting point.

We did the “full day hike through tea plantation” tour and it was an amazing experience. The scenery was breathtaking and varied - we would have been a little bored if it was the same terrain throughout, but we walked through tea plantations, forest, and mountain trails with open vistas. Ramesh, our guide, was key to making our experience a wonderful one. He was knowledgeable, fun to hang out with and took care of us when some of us were tired and needed help. We hiked / walked a total of about 10 miles with a 2,000 feet elevation gain. We definitely recommend the tour and Ramesh as the guide.
